12 Days of Separation!

Hi Friends,

It’s been 12 days since my last blog post.  Can that even be right?!

My days have been pretty full and my goal this month is to try and keep focused on Jesus, my Joy.  So far so good.  🙂

Up until today we haven’t had much snow.  But today is a different story! And a week ago or so we had such bad freezing rain and ice that schools were closed for a day.  You know it’s bad when OUR schools close, ’cause they hardly ever do!

I am finishing up the last of my product orders and now all I am selling in my shop are patterns until the end of December.  I actually published a new pattern today, Easy Elegance Fingerless Gloves.  We’ll see if it generates any interest.  🙂

I sure hope you are all doing well.  Remember to choose (and pray for) peace and joy instead of worry and negativity.  And if you are sad or hurting this season, I pray that you will find love and comfort in Jesus our Immanuel (God with us).

Adoring Him,

Jackie

Snow Country Cup Cozies

Image

Hi Friends,

Here is my latest crochet endeavor:  Snow Country Cup Cozies. 🙂  I had fun creating these this weekend using my Addi Express knitting machine and then hand crocheting both edges. What have you been working on?  I’d love to hear.

This morning was -2 degrees F.  My car did not want to warm up!  It finally did though and I was thankful for that.

With the extreme cold comes extreme beauty here in the Last Frontier:  Crystal blue skies, glistening white snow and majestic mountains.  Breathtaking really.  I will try to get some photos this week if possible.

Blessings all!

Joyfully,

Jackie

More Ideas Than Time…

Hi Friends,

I have been working on this project for a couple of days and I think I am done for now.  Lol!  I started out thinking I was making a chunky neck warmer with a couple of large buttons, but then this whole hood idea came upon me.  I’m starting to see them more and more.  This one is so soft, and thick and warm around my head and neck.  I really love wearing it.  It’s not for me though.  It would completely wash me out.  Maybe I will make myself a black one.  🙂  I will list this one in my shop and see if I get any bites.  I may offer it as a pattern as well.

I am planning on taking some more photos in natural light tomorrow. {*Photos are now updated.}  I will also try to get a live model soon.  But for now “Milly” will have to do.  🙂

I am also finishing another boot cuff design and pattern and I hope to have that completed tomorrow.  Hurray for being able to take some time and work on “product development”!  Just don’t ask me if my dishes are done!

Happy Friday!

Joyfully,

Jackie

High & Low

blog - boot cuff patternHi Friends,

High point (at least one of them): This past Thursday, Friday and Saturday I sold 4 to 5 patterns a day. Wow! What a blessing! I keep getting sales everyday, but those were my high days. 🙂

Low point: Recently took my car in to get fixed 2 weeks in a row and the total has cost approximately $2500. Not fun. The low point came today when it was discovered that the same issue (coolant draining out of my car) that was suppose to be fixed the second week, is happening again. Ugh. Kinda took the wind out of my sails. Hubby gets back tomorrow from his out of town job so he will “take it from here.” I just want this to be over. Will try to focus on “this too shall pass.”

Well, gotta hush and mush and do a little more tidying of the nest before hubby gets home. 🙂 Hope you have a great Monday!

Blessings,

Jackie

Monday Reflections

Hi Friends,

Yesterday was passed in pleasant ways. First, a short work day, then home in the pouring rain which led to building and enjoying a cozy fire in the wood stove, receiving a special package(!), making and consuming some yummy chicken-rice-vegetable-pumpkin soup, light house cleaning and last and longest – working on crocheting, photographing, writing and listing my next pattern. Woot! 🙂

This lovely photo of the Thanksgiving Table Runner is my aforementioned special package! I just purchased it from a fiber artist in California (on Etsy).  Isn’t it gorgeous?!  I absolutely love it!

It inspired me to do a little more Autumn decorating. So fun! How about you? How do you decorate for Autumn? I mostly sprinkle autumn leaves and candles here and there with a couple of pinecone turkeys the kids made years ago. And I might add in some miniature squash or pumpkins. But now I have this table runner to bring it all together! 🙂

Have a blessed day!

Joyfully,

Jackie

Today’s View – Robin’s Egg Cozy Cup Sweater

1a
Hi Friends,

Last night I had fun crocheting this cozy cup sweater for my shop. Isn’t that a scrumptious color?!

I used “Sheep(ish)” yarn again by Vickie Howell in the beautiful shade of “Robin Egg(ish)”. If you missed my post last week highlighting the Autumn Sweater Drink Cozy in “Pumpkin(ish)”, here’s the low-down:
I buy this yarn at my local Joann store. It is a medium weight, roving yarn made of 70% acrylic and 30% wool and it feels amazing! All the colors in this line are vibrant with a lovely sheen to them. The care instructions are “machine wash cold, gentle cycle; dry flat.”

I decided to do a ruffle at the bottom and I think I like it better than the straight design I used earlier.

I am also crocheting up an order today and finishing up some boot cuffs and fingerless gloves this week. What creative goodies are you currently working on?

Joyfully,

Jackie

Friday a Wee Bit Longer

Hi Friends,

It’s late here, but I thought I would stop in for a quick visit.

Today was another semi stressful day {car stuff}, but that happens sometimes and we just make the best of it and be thankful for everything else!

I made time to make these knit & crochet fingerless gloves with some yarn a friend gave me at lunch today.  She bought it for me on her recent trip to England.  How fun is that?! And the gloves go pretty fast with the knitting machine, which you know I love!

The lighting in the photos isn’t great because it isn’t natural light, so I will need to take some better shots before I will list them in my Etsy shop. However, I think my daughter makes a fine hand model. 🙂

I hope you had time to do something creative today too. And if not, soon!

XO,

Jackie

Update:  I went ahead and made a listing for the gloves in my Etsy shop using this photo collage.  I will need to update the photos when I can take some better ones.  If interested click here.  🙂

Crochet Headbands

Hi Friends!

Here in Alaska there is a love affair going on with crochet headbands.  And what’s not to love?  They are cozy, stylish, and made of yarn!

I tend to like crocheting the ones that taper in the back and don’t need a button, like the design modeled by my daughter in these pictures.  However, I crochet and appreciate the button kind too.

Have you crocheted headbands?  What is your favorite style to crochet?  And do you love wearing them, or do you prefer a hat?  So many questions!  Ha! 🙂

Have a fabulous Friday!

Joyfully, Jackie

Our 4th of July was a little chilly & rainy, so a headband came in handy.
