Goodness! Where Does the Time Go?

Hi Friends,

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving last week! Ours was lovely.  We had two different celebrations:  Our family dinner was the Saturday before Thanksgiving so that everyone (my fam of 4 and my mom & dad) could attend.  Then on Thursday we celebrated with some friends.  Both occasions were such a blessing.

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, crocheting, family time, baking, a little working, and dear daughter and I went to The Nutcracker Ballet at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.  It is our mother-daughter annual tradition and it was delightful as always!

And now my busy season is in full swing.  I hope to at least send out a shout here on the blog once (hopefully twice) a week.  Or maybe I will surprise myself with more.

Here are some photos of some of my recent events. 🙂

Blessings with joy,

Jingle Bell Jackie

Monday Evening Project

Hi Friends,

It’s been a peaceful evening.  Worked on this headband tonight.  Now I need to go back and write down what I did.  Lol!  Not sure I will use dark gray in the finished product.  Need to play around with some colors.  I like the snowflake idea with this headband instead of a flower.  First time using one.

Well, I guess I will “fly up with the chickens” as my mama use to say.  🙂

Hope you had a nice evening too.

Blessings!

Jackie

Note:  Poor picture quality, but at least it’s still viewable. 🙂

Monday, Monday…

…as the old song goes. 🙂

Hi Friends!

Not sure why it’s taken so long to write, but here we are.  My past few days have been filled with work, special family times, crochet projects, early Thanksgiving dinner with my family and parents at our house (since dear hubby will not be here on Thursday), attending opening night of the community theatre play dear son is in (so much fun!), church, brunch yesterday with family and then a fun mother-daughter outing, … and just being thankful.

Here are a few photos from this week.  I will try to add a couple more when I get some others downloaded.

Happy Monday, dear ones.

Joyfully,

Jackie

More Ideas Than Time…

Hi Friends,

I have been working on this project for a couple of days and I think I am done for now.  Lol!  I started out thinking I was making a chunky neck warmer with a couple of large buttons, but then this whole hood idea came upon me.  I’m starting to see them more and more.  This one is so soft, and thick and warm around my head and neck.  I really love wearing it.  It’s not for me though.  It would completely wash me out.  Maybe I will make myself a black one.  🙂  I will list this one in my shop and see if I get any bites.  I may offer it as a pattern as well.

I am planning on taking some more photos in natural light tomorrow. {*Photos are now updated.}  I will also try to get a live model soon.  But for now “Milly” will have to do.  🙂

I am also finishing another boot cuff design and pattern and I hope to have that completed tomorrow.  Hurray for being able to take some time and work on “product development”!  Just don’t ask me if my dishes are done!

Happy Friday!

Joyfully,

Jackie

And Suddenly It’s Winter!

Hi Friends,

This past weekend it quickly went from Autumn and green grass to winter white and warm coat weather!  You can see by the 2 beautiful evergreens outside my living room window what I mean.  It truly is lovely so I will not complain…yet.  😉

I’ve been pleasantly occupied this week with work, crochet, watching my son’s school play (he did great in one of the lead roles!), keeping warm by the wood stove and enjoying some evening family time.

Something jogged my memory recently so I thought I would share this little treasure:

When the kids were smaller we use to listen to The Cinnamon Bear radio show every night (on our computer) starting right after Thanksgiving up to the last episode on Christmas Eve. It was recorded way back in 1937 and I can just imagine families back then sitting around the radio attentively listening to this cute, quaint, silly little program.  It’s a really fun little story with each episode lasting about 12 minutes long.  Lately I find that I am listening to an episode here and there while I crochet.  Brings back great memories of family time with “Judy, Jimmy and The Cinnamon Bear!”

If you’re interested, the link below will take you to all the episodes on radiolovers.com:  http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/cinnamonbear.htm

My Soft & Sweet Wednesday View

1a

Hi Friends,

Today I crocheted this soft and sweet baby hat.  Isn’t that a yummy color combination?  A friend/customer requested yellow and gray, but there was no yellow to be had so I showed her the “squash” colored yarn and she loved it.    It is so soft!  And I can just imagine that her little man will look adorable in it.  (The button looks more burgundy here, but it is more of a brown tone.)

And I wanted to report back on my first teaching assignment.  🙂  The “crochet class” last night went really well.  These ladies picked it up quick!  There were the usual tension issues, but they were remarkably well with the mechanics of the stitches and even their tension improved from the beginning to the end of the session.  There were a few missed stitches here and there, but overall I give all 3 students an A+.  And they were a bunch of fun too!  Lots of laughter mixed with crochet:  You can’t beat that!  But did I get any pictures?  Who had time?!  Lol.

Tonight I am helping dear daughter with her mermaid outfit when she gets back from exercising 🙂 and I also need to make more pecan treats for dear son (since I ate the leftovers at work today-oops).   So, yes, the pecan treats were good.  Just be sure and follow the update that I added to the recipe.

Well, I guess I better hush and mush…as in dog mush – Alaska term – see what I did there?  😉

Blessings!

Warmth & Beauty

image

Hi Friends,

This week has been a busy one – in a good way! I have had a number of items to crochet and this turquoise cowl was one of them.  I absolutely love the soft, silky yarn and color! This is actually one of my daughter’s favorites. She thinks anytime I make something in her favorite color, it must be for her. Lol!

I also crocheted some boot cuffs, 3 sets of fingerless gloves and am finishing another 2 piece cup cozy order.  Oh, and I have a baby beanie to do.  I get to go to the yarn store for that one!  🙂

I will try to post some more photos of the other items soon.

Did you craft or crochet this week? Whatcha working on? I’d love to hear.

Blessings and happy Friday!

Vibrant, Variegated Cup Cozy

blog cup cozy 2

Hi Friends,

I thought I would start Monday off with some vibrant crochet!  I absolutely loved this yarn when I first spied it at the yarn shop in Seward.  I originally decided to make a cowl with it.  I loved the results and it is probably the wardrobe accessory I wear the most.  Then I got the idea to make a simple cup cozy and I really liked it as well.   Both have been popular in my shop.  Today I will be filling an order for the cup cozy and sending it to it’s new home.  🙂

Yarn details:  James C. Brett, Mable Chunky, #27; 100% acrylic; machine wash; 341 yards.

Are you crocheting or creating today?  Whatcha working on? I’d love to hear.

Blessings,

Jackie

Today’s View – Robin’s Egg Cozy Cup Sweater

1a
Hi Friends,

Last night I had fun crocheting this cozy cup sweater for my shop. Isn’t that a scrumptious color?!

I used “Sheep(ish)” yarn again by Vickie Howell in the beautiful shade of “Robin Egg(ish)”. If you missed my post last week highlighting the Autumn Sweater Drink Cozy in “Pumpkin(ish)”, here’s the low-down:
I buy this yarn at my local Joann store. It is a medium weight, roving yarn made of 70% acrylic and 30% wool and it feels amazing! All the colors in this line are vibrant with a lovely sheen to them. The care instructions are “machine wash cold, gentle cycle; dry flat.”

I decided to do a ruffle at the bottom and I think I like it better than the straight design I used earlier.

I am also crocheting up an order today and finishing up some boot cuffs and fingerless gloves this week. What creative goodies are you currently working on?

Joyfully,

Jackie
