Hello!  Well, it’s been almost a year since I started an Instagram account (joyfuljaxcrochets.and.knits) to connect with other crocheters and knitters (yes, I finally got the knack of continental knitting – hurray!) and other crafters.  I can honestly say it has been so much fun and so inspiring connecting with some really special people all around this amazing planet!  If you are on Insta, please connect.  And if you aren’t, but you are looking for an easy way to post and view other’s posts, I think you’d love it.  It’s easier for me.  I connect with family and friends on there too.  I actually like it better than Facebook.  It seems to have more personal posts and not as much sharing of videos and political posts, etc.  At least the people I follow are that way.  And you can make your profile private or public.

Have a blessed holiday season and maybe I’ll see you on IG!

Happy New Year! And A New Crochet Pattern! :)

This week from our window.

This week from our window.

Hi Friends!

We continue to enjoy the holidays with dear son on Christmas break from school.  We have been playing Settlers of Catan quite a bit in the evenings and absolutely love it!

Settlers Carl & Keaton

Also, in the last few days I’ve been working on crocheting, photographing, writing and publishing my latest pattern:  Highland Beauty Crochet Headband with Flower.  Yay!  As always, it seems that I need to get better photos for my Etsy listing (would like to get some outside shots with dear daughter), but they are adequate to publish for now.

Tonight will be pretty low key.  We often times get together with a certain family and play games, but that didn’t work out for tonight so we will go to dinner, play some games here at the house and watch “It’s A Wonderful Life” with dear son who ALWAYS watches that movie on New Year’s Eve as part of his holiday tradition.  🙂  Dear daughter will be out with friends and having fun too.

I hope that you have a very blessed New Year!  And thanks for being a special part of a wonderful community of blog friends in 2013.

12 Days of Separation!

Hi Friends,

It’s been 12 days since my last blog post.  Can that even be right?!

My days have been pretty full and my goal this month is to try and keep focused on Jesus, my Joy.  So far so good.  🙂

Up until today we haven’t had much snow.  But today is a different story! And a week ago or so we had such bad freezing rain and ice that schools were closed for a day.  You know it’s bad when OUR schools close, ’cause they hardly ever do!

I am finishing up the last of my product orders and now all I am selling in my shop are patterns until the end of December.  I actually published a new pattern today, Easy Elegance Fingerless Gloves.  We’ll see if it generates any interest.  🙂

I sure hope you are all doing well.  Remember to choose (and pray for) peace and joy instead of worry and negativity.  And if you are sad or hurting this season, I pray that you will find love and comfort in Jesus our Immanuel (God with us).

Adoring Him,

High & Low

blog - boot cuff patternHi Friends,

High point (at least one of them): This past Thursday, Friday and Saturday I sold 4 to 5 patterns a day. Wow! What a blessing! I keep getting sales everyday, but those were my high days. 🙂

Low point: Recently took my car in to get fixed 2 weeks in a row and the total has cost approximately $2500. Not fun. The low point came today when it was discovered that the same issue (coolant draining out of my car) that was suppose to be fixed the second week, is happening again. Ugh. Kinda took the wind out of my sails. Hubby gets back tomorrow from his out of town job so he will “take it from here.” I just want this to be over. Will try to focus on “this too shall pass.”

Well, gotta hush and mush and do a little more tidying of the nest before hubby gets home. 🙂 Hope you have a great Monday!

Monday Reflections

Hi Friends,

Yesterday was passed in pleasant ways. First, a short work day, then home in the pouring rain which led to building and enjoying a cozy fire in the wood stove, receiving a special package(!), making and consuming some yummy chicken-rice-vegetable-pumpkin soup, light house cleaning and last and longest – working on crocheting, photographing, writing and listing my next pattern. Woot! 🙂

This lovely photo of the Thanksgiving Table Runner is my aforementioned special package! I just purchased it from a fiber artist in California (on Etsy).  Isn’t it gorgeous?!  I absolutely love it!

It inspired me to do a little more Autumn decorating. So fun! How about you? How do you decorate for Autumn? I mostly sprinkle autumn leaves and candles here and there with a couple of pinecone turkeys the kids made years ago. And I might add in some miniature squash or pumpkins. But now I have this table runner to bring it all together! 🙂

Have a blessed day!

Here she is! 🙂

Crochet & Sharing Jesus’ Love

Jesus loves the little children. All the children of the world!

Do you know that song? Here’s what I know: It’s true.

Hi Friends,

God is so good! Crochet pattern sales continue to come in steadily throughout the month (4 sales today) so here is what He laid on my heart: “Sponsor another Compassion child.”

Today I got on the website and typed in “girl”, “anywhere” and my birthday. Up popped 3 names and pictures. One precious girl, age 8, grabbed my attention. She has been waiting for a sponsor for 383 days. The wait is over.

“Thank you, Father, for your heart for children!”

I hope you are having a blessed week!

Yarnspirations – Exciting News!

…Exciting to a “yarnie” anyway! 🙂

Hi Friends, is now the new home of Patons, Bernat, Caron, and Lily “Sugar n’ Cream”!  “Why is this so exciting?”, you ask. Free crochet and knit patterns, of course! 🙂 You will want to head over there soon to check it out.  I’ve done a little snooping and it looks promising.

Below are three screenshots from the website.  The first two are from the intro video.  Click on any of these images to be transported to the website.   I will also be updating my “Free Pattern Links” page today.

Have fun and blessings all!

Granny Square & Cozy Bear

square & bear

Hi Friends,

Here is a project I am working on for my son.  The plan is to make 4 of these large granny squares and crochet them together to make a lap size afghan.  It was originally going to be for a baby shower gift, but I wasn’t real happy with the colors {not knowing if it was a girl or boy} so I chose a different palette.  Hearing this, my son piped up and said that he really liked this one.  Music to my ears!  So, now I need to get going on it again so he can use it this year.

As you can see, Cozy Bear took a liking to it too.  He is engrossed in his book {tee hee} and snuggled up warm as a bug in a rug.

What is your favorite afghan pattern to crochet?  Share if you have a mind to.  🙂

Have a fabulous Friday!  Mine is going to start EARLY, but I am so excited!  I am catching a train to Seward with my team at work.  We are taking a boat from there to Fox Island for lunch and then back to town.  It’s been rainy here so I hope I stay as warm as Cozy Bear!

P. S.  I decided to add a pattern in case you are interested.  {Click image for pattern info.}

P. S. I decided to add this Red Heart pattern in case you are interested. It is the same general idea as what I crocheted, but the pattern calls for thicker yarn and I used worsted weight.

A Pattern A Day Crochet – Tuesday!

Hi Friends!

Look what I found!  Isn’t this a cool crochet flower?  I love it and I am actually using it to embellish my “Precious in Pink Crochet Baby Beanie” in my Etsy shop {see below}.  It is a free pattern {the price in the red dot is for the suggested yarn} and was simple to create.   If you make one, let me know.  I’d love to hear what you plan to do with it and what you thought of the pattern.

Happy crocheting and I hope you have a terrific Tuesday.  And don’t forget – you are loved more than you could ever imagine!  Joyfully, Jackie
