Hello!  Well, it’s been almost a year since I started an Instagram account (joyfuljaxcrochets.and.knits) to connect with other crocheters and knitters (yes, I finally got the knack of continental knitting – hurray!) and other crafters.  I can honestly say it has been so much fun and so inspiring connecting with some really special people all around this amazing planet!  If you are on Insta, please connect.  And if you aren’t, but you are looking for an easy way to post and view other’s posts, I think you’d love it.  It’s easier for me.  I connect with family and friends on there too.  I actually like it better than Facebook.  It seems to have more personal posts and not as much sharing of videos and political posts, etc.  At least the people I follow are that way.  And you can make your profile private or public.

Have a blessed holiday season and maybe I’ll see you on IG!

Crochet Headbands

Hi Friends!

Here in Alaska there is a love affair going on with crochet headbands.  And what’s not to love?  They are cozy, stylish, and made of yarn!

I tend to like crocheting the ones that taper in the back and don’t need a button, like the design modeled by my daughter in these pictures.  However, I crochet and appreciate the button kind too.

Have you crocheted headbands?  What is your favorite style to crochet?  And do you love wearing them, or do you prefer a hat?  So many questions!  Ha! 🙂

Have a fabulous Friday!

Joyfully, Jackie

Our 4th of July was a little chilly & rainy, so a headband came in handy.

Oh the Joy of Lace!

Hi Friends,

Isn’t lace lovely?  I’ve often admired it from the time I was a little girl.  I think I can honestly say that I never ever thought I’d be able to produce it myself from a piece of “string”.   But because of the wonderful world of crochet, I get to do just that…any old time I wish! 🙂  Here are a couple of pieces I’ve created.  One is a simple flower {used here as a bobby pin}, the other is a bridal lace choker necklace I have in my shop.  To my great delight, a young bride purchased one of these choker necklaces this summer and wrote to tell me that it was just that special touch she had been looking for.  That just absolutely made my day!  To think that a bride wore something I had crocheted on one of the most important days of her life.  Crochet bliss!  If you haven’t tried it yet, find a simple flower pattern, get out your tiny hooks and crochet thread and give it a go.  If you have crocheted lace, let me know all about it!

Blessings from Alaska, Jackie

A Pattern A Day Crochet – Tuesday!

Hi Friends!

Look what I found!  Isn’t this a cool crochet flower?  I love it and I am actually using it to embellish my “Precious in Pink Crochet Baby Beanie” in my Etsy shop {see below}.  It is a free pattern {the price in the red dot is for the suggested yarn} and was simple to create.   If you make one, let me know.  I’d love to hear what you plan to do with it and what you thought of the pattern.

Happy crocheting and I hope you have a terrific Tuesday.  And don’t forget – you are loved more than you could ever imagine!  Joyfully, Jackie

Would you like a cup of crochet?

I am working on another crochet brooch in my English Rose line this week.  I love the beautiful “Robin Egg(ish)” colored “Sheep(ish)” yarn by Vickie Howell for Caron.  I think I will finish it with a pretty vanilla cream colored leaf.  Don’t you just love crochet & crafting?!  What are you working on?

Downton Abbey Inspired Crochet Flower Brooch

I don’t know about you, but I was captivated with the season (3) premiere of Downton Abbey last night! Every Sunday we have planned to not only watch, but to share the experience with our good friends who will be joining us. What fun we will have! And naturally, I decided to name this pretty cream brooch “Lady Mary”. Click the picture for more information. Blessings from Alaska! ~Jackie

Crochet Flower Brooch Tutorial Coming Soon…

Right now I am supporting some loved ones with medical issues, but soon I will post a tutorial for this cheerful brooch that I just added to my Etsy shop. I had fun making this upcycled denim & crochet flower brooch from a pair of my son’s old jeans. Can’t help but feel like I’ll be carrying around a little bit of his childhood when I wear it. ❤

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a blessed day.

Joyfully, Jackie

I came up with a simple yet surprising way to make this brooch. Tutorial coming soon...

Weekend Wrap Up Party at Tatertots & Jello! :)

My sister-in-law, Christine, invited me to participate in this fun blog party!  The idea is to “show off your great ideas”.  How nifty!  As some of you know, I’ve been crocheting like crazy this winter so I think I’ll post a crochet creation.  Imagine that!  😉  Here is one of my flower brooches.  I hope you like it!  Joyfully, Jackie
