A Feast for the Eyes!

9

Hi Friends,

There’s a shop downtown that I love to visit around the holidays!  It’s called Kimball’s (aka The Kobuk).  HERE is a little history on it that I just dug up, in case you are interested. 🙂 The document says that the store closed in 2002.  However, it reopened as The Kobuk – specializing in gifts, treats and fine teas.

Well, today was my first “holiday” visit of the year.  They have a little corner dedicated to Thanksgiving with some lovely items, and a large part of the store dedicated to Christmas goodies of all sorts. Heaven.  They also carry many varieties of yummy teas and tea accessories.  Better and better.  Today I came away with a super cute hat {to go with my new, oh-so-warm coat} and a Christmas pin that reads ‘JOY’ {of course}.  🙂

Here is the pictorial tour for your viewing pleasure.   {Photos were taken with my phone camera.  Some are slightly out of focus, but they still capture the surroundings.}  A definite feast for the eyes!  Enjoy!

Joyfully,

Jackie

A Wonderful Weekend!

image

Hi Friends,

Yes, it was a wonderful weekend! Dear son got 8th place at the 123A State Championship 5K race on Saturday! Woohooooo!

I will post more pictures of my weekend tomorrow as it is time to “fly up with the chickens” tonight.

And I wanted to share this photo that the ADN photographer captured of father & son. What a precious relationship they have!

Blessings all!

Jackie

Missing Joy

5

Hi Friends,

It is time to share this because a number of my friends (and maybe you or someone you know) are struggling.

There was a time when I did not feel the joy I once had and that I have now.   In fact, I was on my knees asking God for help in my situation.  He was there to help me and also reveal to me what I needed to work on.

One day during this painful journey, I went for a walk and in my heart I cried out to God, asking again for his help.  My countenance was low, but He lifted my eyes and they fell upon the mountains surrounding my home.  Immediately He brought to mind one of my very favorite passages from the Bible and in the midst of my pain, I felt hope.  Here is that passage:

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

*There were other passages He reminded me of during this time and they also gave me encouragement.

Deuteronomy 31:8

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

———————–>

There are many more passages like them, but these are the ones God specifically used in my life to strengthen me for the battle…and the victory.

Maybe you are struggling right now.  I pray that this encourages you.  There is hope and God loves you.

…And joy returns.

Psalm 30:5b

…Weeping may stay for the night,
    but rejoicing comes in the morning.

With love & JOY,

Jackie
