DSC09538-001b blog2Welcome to My Northern Cottage View!  This is a joyful place where I’ll be posting mostly about crocheting, life in Alaska, simple pleasures, family life, food, and faith.

Let’s see…a little about me:  I’ve always lived on the US West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska – in that order). I’m happily married and mom to two sweet and sassy children. I love Jesus & everything about Him. I am a children’s ministry director by day & a crocheting fiend by night!  I have an Etsy shop that is too much fun!  Okay, I will stop at that for now.  🙂

And if you’re wondering about my blog banner photo, I took this picture last year on one of our many summer weekend trips to Seward, Alaska.  It was taken at Lowell Point, to be exact.  Is that beautiful or what?!

I have a pretty nice Northern Cottage View at home too right here in the city.  I do so love the mountains and I feel very blessed to be surrounded by them almost everywhere I go.

So glad you stopped by!  Come for a visit any time.  You are always welcome.

Joyfully, Jackie

  1. Gosh Alaska looks beautiful! I am in the complete opposite climate here in Texas! I don’t know if I could handle the cold up there in the winter though, my blood has gotten too thin! Lovely pics, makes me want to visit (in the summer lol)

  2. Thanks for the follow. I will have fun getting to ‘know’ you and your style. I see we both have a common interest. crochet! 😀 I loved the story of your grandmother. Truly inspirational!

  3. Hello from England! Thanks for stopping by ONOODLES, and congratulations on your lovely blog. I love reading about what other people are doing all over the world, especially those with the same interests and inspirations!

  4. Hello Jackie~ you have a beautiful blog growing here, and I have already enjoyed reading bits and pieces of it. I also visited your Etsy store and I can’t wait to go back to visit again to spend some time shopping around as I seen some scarves and gloves that I’d like to get before winter sets in!:) Blessings to you while out in Alaska! Alaska is indeed my favorite state in all the U.S. If I could live there I totally would! Perhaps a chance will come in the future.

  5. Hi Jackie,
Just popped over to take a look at your lovely blog space, check out your shop and, of course, to thank you for stopping by Westcoastknitter.com and “liking” my (first) and recent post “Another Koolhaas Hat”. As I’m a total newbie to the blogging world, it is so encouraging to know that someone is reading my posts. What a bonus to come over here and find such delicious eye candy! Best wishes, Becky

  6. Jackie,
I found your blog because you liked one of my posts. Thanks! I am originally from Soldotna, AK and was thrilled to see you’re blogging from my home state. You’ve got a great site and gorgeous products.

    • Welcome City Girl! 🙂 I was born in San Jose and almost raised there (until we moved to Oregon) so I guess that makes me a city girl too. But now, after living in Alaska for 30 years, I have been set free. Lol. You will love crochet. Just keep at it and start simple. Blessings! – Jackie

  7. You have some beautiful items! I like the fingerless gloves and the tea cups – very cute! I’ve made granny squares for an afghan in the past, but that was the extent of my experience with crochet. I never realized how versatile it was!
